Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to complete and prepare the Online Legacy Kits ?

The entire process of completing the Online Account Collection Forms only takes the average person 30 to 45 minutes. However, that is only IF you have the entire content of what you wish to place into the Legacy Kit and onto the CD or DVD media storage device prepared in advance. We encourage you to take the time to give serious fore-thought and consideration to your participation inclusions. Be creative and have fun with it. Sign up early and encourage others to do the same. Collaborating with others while preparing your Legacy Kits will make your participation more interesting, thought invoking, and valuable to yourself and those you choose to collaborate with. In this manner many of the objectives of the project's theme are being served. Together let us get everyone thinking about world change and peace now. Also, please be sure to consider your future recipients while you are creating your media.

How will you ensure that technology for CD and DVD playback is supported 50 years from now ?

The Foundation guarantees and ensures that there will be adequate and reliable technologies and playback devices inserted into the actual time capsule(s). Current plans include solar powered laptops with all necessary software pre-installed to support today's technologies and file formats. At a minimum, this will be a standard element of the actual time capsule(s). Additionally, depending on volume of participation and donations, the foundation hopes to build a "Visitor's Claim and Viewing Center" where today's technology will also be supported AND data transfers made available for supported technologies 50 years from now . Such a facility of course, will be entirely dependent on current project participation and donations.

Does the foundation actually believe that the world is going to end in 2012 ?

NO… or at least we certainly hope not. We are however, bold enough to admit that we are not qualified to make predictions in regard to the end of the world as we know it, and that no one else really appears to be either. No one can say for certain what the future holds. What we think is not relevant. What do YOU think? If something truly catastrophic, by nature or man, were to occur in our world today, what kind of legacy will you leave for humanity in the future?

Time Capsules and Legacies does acknowledge the many prophecies about 2012, but we are much more concerned with the general state of the world in which we live NOW. We do agree, as most informed people would, that our current social structure is now facing some very real, major changes that may have a devastating impact on each of our personal lives and the entire world. Hence, all the more reason and purpose for the existence of the time capsule and memorial project.

Regarding the state of the world, there's nothing I can do about it, so why should I care ?

It is of looming concern that we all too often hear this position taken by too many people.

The truth of the matter is that in taking this position, you are actually doing something about it. You are favoring the agendas of those that prefer for you to remain ignorant or docile to their controlling influences over YOUR world. This is inherently the wrong position to take if you really care about the world, our future and more importantly, the future of innocent children and other inhabitants of this planet. It is each of us, collectively and independently, by choice or refusal to choose, that will affect all planetary outcomes, good or bad, today and tomorrow. DO YOUR PART! It really is time to change.

How will the foundation choose which type of memorial to build – the Giza Plateau or El Castillo Pyramid ?. . . And, how will the size and location of the memorial be determined ?

First, the memorial’s theme will be determined by the project participants. When you sign up for your free account, one of the questions you will answer will be whether you prefer a memorial based on the Great Pyramids, or whether you prefer the memorial to be a replica of El Castillo. Voting polls will remain open until June 20th, 2010, and the final results will be posted to the Web site.

The size and location of the memorial will be determined on the amount of donations the foundation receives. Keep in mind that the 2012 World P.E.A.C.E. Project is entirely funded by donations from individuals like you. We are a not-for-profit foundation. The Foundation must take into account the cost of land on which to build the memorial, construction costs, administrative costs for this Web site, the cost to produce the time capsule kits, as well as the cost to maintain the memorial site for 50 years.

Who actually owns the memorial and the time capsule kit contents we submit ?

Officially, the individuals who participate. The foundation’s primary role is to serve as the official conduit for the memorial -- to administer, preserve and maintain the collection of ideas and plans for peace and planetary sustainability.

Legally speaking, the memorial site, its structures, and the time capsule kits will be held in trust of the people and participants by the foundation. The time capsule contents shall be returned to the intended inheritors upon the memorial’s opening in the year 2062.

In the year 2062, when the memorial is reopened, what will the foundation do with all of the “stuff” in the time capsule kits if no one claims it ?

The contents of each time capsule kit will be held in trust until the opening ceremonies on June 21st, 2062. Six months prior to this date, the Foundation will begin the process of attempting to contact inheritors and allowing the claim process to begin. Contents that remain unclaimed after a period of ONE year will be left to a suitable organization whose principles and beliefs are aligned with the project. The Foundation is currently reviewing options and potential candidates for the inheritance of unclaimed or unassigned capsule contributions.

How long do I have to complete/upload the contents of my Time Capsule & Legacy Kit ?

After creating your free online account, you will have one year to fully develop and finish uploading your time capsule content and other pertinent information. Participants with incomplete accounts, on a selected schedule of every two weeks or one month, will receive automated e-mail notifications reminding them that there are missing components. Keep in mind, however, that although there is a one year timeframe for completing your Legacy Kit, participants that sign up within less than 12 months of the cutoff date of December 31, 2011 will have less time to complete their submissions for insertion into the memorial.
